Elizabeth Walker (Liz) - President

Liz grew up in Leaside (now part of Toronto) and taught for 35 years at Parkdale Collegiate in Toronto.  She moved to Midland in 2002 although she has spent time every year since she was a year old visiting many relatives in Midland.  She has been vice-president and president of the Midland and District Lawn Bowling Club, Treasurer of Pursuits, a volunteer with the Special Olympics Snowshoe Group and a former member of the Midland Golf Club and Curling Club.  She is currently a volunteer at the Wye Marsh, coordinator with the Brain Injury Group at the Lawn Bowling Club and membership coordinator for the Probus Club at Midland Huronia.  After attending the "Spuds for Sistema" fundraiser in 2018, Liz was so overwhelmed with the music ability and enthusiasm of the children that she wanted to become part of Sistema.

Lu LaFrance -  Vice-President

Lu is a retired teacher, having taught 36 years in the junior division in elementary schools in Peterborough, London, Hamilton, Kitchener, and Simcoe County. In retirement Lu has devoted herself to volunteer with the elderly, with retired teacher organizations, the poor and homeless, the disadvantaged socially and mentally, various church ministries and community events, and now with Sistema                                               

Diane Ouimet-Schryver - Treasurer

Diane Ouimet-Schryver is a retired Information Technology Director.  Diane has volunteered for healthcare related and now music related committees.  She was a member of the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Advisory and Quality Committees and is now a member of the GBGH Patient Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) and the North Simcoe Ontario Health Team (NS OHT) PFAC and was previously the Web Director on the board of the Midland & District Business Women's Association (MDBWA).  She enjoys sailing, hiking, cross country skiing, yoga, TRX (suspension training), Spin, Barre, Tabata and other classes at No Borders Fitness.

Joan Condie - Secretary

Joan Condie recently retired from a long career as a college professor and administrator.  Joan is enjoying getting to know Tiny Township better as a full-time resident, and hiking as many local trails as she can with her dog. She was the secretary on her beach association board for many years and has done volunteer work previously with an animal shelter and with international students. Currently Joan is working on improving her guitar skills, and thrilled to be connected to the Sistema organization in its support for music education.

Wendy Spademan

Wendy Spademan is a retired Toronto District School Board elementary music teacher and private piano teacher.  She conducted choirs for students in Grades 3 to 6 and directed several musicals at Howard Public School, including Wizard of Oz, Jungle Book, Peter Pan and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Her students performed regularly at the Kiwanis Music Festival in Toronto.  Wendy started a new part-time career as a Personal Fitness Trainer after moving to Tiny Township in 2019.  She is excited to have the opportunity to serve on the Sistema Huronia Board of Directors and support music education for young people in the area.  Wendy enjoys training her clients, hiking the Bruce Trail, reading, cooking and working out in her home gym.
