Sistema is an established and free after-school music program for students in grades 3 to 8 that promotes personal growth through music. It uses the classical music ensemble experience to achieve positive social change for youth.

Sistema Huronia runs out of St. Paul's United Church on King Street in Midland. We currently have over 30 students who are having the time of their lives playing violins, violas, cellos and even a double bass. They are the only children's string orchestra in the Midland area. It's a joy to hear the great sound these children make.

They practice together, after school, Monday to Thursday. Beginning Students Meet Monday and Tuesday from 3:45 to 5:45 P.M. Advanced students meet Wednesday and Thursday from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to build and sustain an intensive social program that provides free, ensemble-based music lessons to inspire children at risk to realize their full potential as students, musicians, and citizens.

Our Vision:

Our vision is to instill a strong sense of community, self-respect, and mutual support in our children through the pursuit of musical excellence in order to prepare them for a better tomorrow.

The Sistema Huronia program will be a way to enrich the lives of children in Huronia. In addition to developing music skills, children will improve literacy and grades, gain confidence and self-esteem and build a solid foundation in their lives for the future.

Sistema Huronia is a registered Non-Profit in Ontario as of April 30, 2013.  Our registration number is 1893523.
